Dealership Service Costs/ MAF
Dealership Service Costs/ MAF
After a ton of troubleshooting I finally decided to take my 2000 Maxima SE 5sp into the dealership for them to determine what the problem was. My car seemed to be circling through a cycle of rough idle and a powerless 2nd and 3rd gear. The problem (according to the dealership) is the Mass Air Flow Meter (MAF). Does this part usually cost a ton of money to repair/ replace? Then they went on to tell me that my car is ready for the 60,000 mile service when I only have 53,000 miles on it. Is this an accurate determination from the dealer’s mechanic? The also want $699.00 for this service. Is that too much? It seems a bit high to me.
WHoa.. thats a lot. Contact DaveB. on this org. he can hook you up with a MAF for under 100 bucks. You can just replace it yourself, its quite easy... and for the 60k service, just wait till 60k if your car is ok after you fix the mAF. Dealers always want to make money of you even after you bought their car

The MAF was covered under warranty. The deductible was the $100. The $699.00 Is really what I am concerned about. Does anyone have a list of what they are going to do for 60,000 mile service? Maybe that would give me an appropriate time estimate. The parts I could look up and the hourly rate is posted in the lobby at the service department at the dealership. I just think that $699.00 is way too high for a standard "Tune-up".
