anyone experience sputtering in your max? feels like a misfiring spark plug, but i can't be certain. what should i do? and how can i check the ECU code? how does one do that?

 

First thing to do is update your profile with what year and model your max is.
Then start disconnecting the cylinders one at a time until you find the cylinder/s that doesn't affect the cars running and that will be the begining of finding the problem

 

i have a 93 SE. is it safe if two cylinders are off, while the engine is turned on? also, is it ok to disconnect them while the engine is running, or must i re-ignite the engine after each try?

 

Ok you've got it "easy"
The connectors on the coils are easy to do and undo.
You do it while the car is running.
But only disconnect 1 at a time.
Leave the car running the entire time.
That's how I found out I bought a 3 cyl maxima. thenit turned into a 5 now its finally a 6
