stainless-steel VS. Aluminized steel "Y" pipe

what are the advantages for the stainless-steel Y-pipe over the Aluminized steel ?

other than it won't rust, are there any advantages that's worth to pay the +$50 for the stainless-steel ??

I want to get a Y-pipe from www.warpspeedperformance.com, but I still haven't decide which one to choose ??

also what do you think of Warpspeed Y-pipe ?

Thanks,

His is a 3.0 engine, I personally got the stainless steel because that was all that mine came in. Mine is a cattman, not warpspeed but i think the idea is the same. If your concerned with the length of life, i would probably get the stainless.

I think the US equivalent to his car is probably the I30, so the only thing he needs to do is verify whether he needs a "Cali" or "Fed" spec pipe. Then again out in the middle east it may be a completely different

yeah, I think it's I30 with 5 speed tranny,

My car has two precats, and one main cat, so it's Cali spec, right ?

I want to order the y-pipe tomorow, so the only advantage for the stainless steel, it will last longer?

Thanks,

Yep... It looks prettier when you first put it on, but they all look the same after a few months.

realistically people have seen 8-17fwhp. I don't quite understand why there is such a difference. A way to find out if you have a Fed or Cali spec is to check how many O2 sensors you have. 2=Fed, 4= Cali. The sensors are plugged into the front of the cylinder banks. I don't have the picture but hopefully someone can post it for you.

On a side note, its good to know that I can purchase an I30 stateside and do a 5speed conversion on the 2nd gen I30

I went today to an exhuast shop, and found out that I only have 2 O2 sensors, so it's Fed spec.

I will order stainless-steel Y-pipe from www.warpspeedperformance.com,

$260 shipped to NY, what do you think of the price and the product ?

Thanks alot for every one who posted

cool, a couple things you will or might notice

1) more power of the bat, especially at mid-high range
2) VI secondary switch over (5,200rpms), the engine sound becomes alot more hard-edged and racier (Sorta like a chain saw cutting through wood)
3) might have some wierd hissing noise from the flex section
4) your exhaust note changes from a smooth rasp to a very soft rumble at idle. When you let off the gas or press in the clutch, you'll notice this even more.

Thanks man,

"Sorta like a chain saw cutting through wood"

this is cool

and for the flex section noise, I think WarpS. have a new flex section that won't make this noise, I hope it's true.

I will try to take a video of the car at idle and reving, to compare the sound, before and after.

Thanks alot,
