IMO I personally cannot see how playing that thru the tape deck or FM modded would sound good, considering the whole idea of those things is to keep the sound strictly digital, but hey whatever works for ya bro!

I prefer my setup:

A little more permanent, but a lot better sounding

Does the IPod stay on the coin holder like that or does it come off? If it stays on, is it hard to use the button at that angle.

BTW, the sound quality from the tape deck isn't really all that bad.

The iPod is in being held in a cell phone holder velcroed to the front of the coin holder door. The iPod can come out of the holder if I need it to, and I can remove both to get into the coin holder (which is really unused these days). The angle of the buttons is set so that I can reach the iPod buttons from the shifter easily. Here's a closer pic:

As for the sound quality, I think the way you have it is the best you can do short of using a true AUX in like mine. I've used the tape adaptor, and an FM modulator, and the tape adaptor picks up some hiss, but the FM modulator added a lot of engine noise, which was worse, IMHO.

Nice work. I'll find out how my cousin has it hooked up.
