what else besides poor grounding could fry the alternator?

what else besides poor grounding could fry the alternator?

this will be the 4th one over the course of a year and a half. i replaced the battery cables and grounded the car well. what resistance is frying my dam*)*(&N alternator? i'm about to push this car off a cliff.

how's the condition of the battery?

have you had the system load tested? See if there's a load on the system while the car is off.... then check the load on the alternator while the car is running... you shouldn't have more than a few amps of charge while the car is running with all accessories off. no more than about 50-60A with everything turned on...

If any more than that, then you've got something that's not working right and I would start by looking there.

how's your engine seals and stuff? if there's a lot of oil leaking on the front seal, it can get gunked up in the alternator and cause problems too.

hmmm. battery is spanking new. uh. load testing is in order. i will start there.
