How do take off the stcok e-brake handle

How do take off the stcok e-brake handle, did not find it in the How-to FAQ, and cannot search. I am replacing mine, and have no clue how to get that stock one off.

it can be verrrry tough. putting them back on sux too! i'd suggest heating it up first so it's somewhat softer and easier to work with. undo the (fake) leather boot and then wrap something around the whole handle, and use a flat headed screw driver and a hammer to hit it off. it takes a while and is not fun. you may find other ways to do it, but i don't know how. it's on there very very tight. just be careful when hitting it off not to damage the rest of your dash. it's tough because it gets really thin in the middle and doesn't want to budge.

i hope this helps, if it doesn't, sorry, but you'll have a better idea of what you're in for. goodluck!

What are you replacing the handle with when you get the original off. I've been thinking about doing this interior update since the orginal is chinsey.

First, put the ebrake down. Use a flat tip punch and strike it at the base of the plastic handle with a hammer. If you don't have a punch set, a small block of wood will work too. Hit the punch or block of wood towards the front of the car. A few moderate taps will get the ebrake plastic handle off.
