You can do all of that yourself. Probably looking at $275 in parts, depending on where you get the strut.

Also, it's "bearing" not "barren."

it may be one or the other. I've replaced the LH front axle, rotor and bearing, but I'm still getting vibration and lots of road feel from that side. I'm replacing all struts/springs in a week or two, and I'll be replacing the upper front mounts in the process, which should about take care of it. If not, I'll just replace the entire LH assembly. They are all DIY projects, but a PITA to do w/o a lift. The problem is that the telltales for each one are very similar, so you need to pull them apart to figure which is the culprit. Also, what caused you to get it checked? Noise? Vibration? Bored?

how do i tell if my bearings are bad?
how difficult is it to replace? I've done cv boots, axles, springs and struts, and brakes, but never bearings.

I believe somewhere on here I read that if you jack up the side that it's on so that the wheel is off the ground, you can see if there is alot of excessive play in the wheel while it's in gear (try to rotate the wheel while in gear). I'm not positive on this, but I believe that's what I read.

You should be able to lift that wheel off the ground and yank on the tire back and forth. I would do it top/bottom and left/right. There should be no play at all by the hub. Oh yah, make sure that your lug nuts are tight to the specified torque. I would even go as far as to untighten them and re-torque them in a star pattern you normally do.
