I am going to replace the rear shocks on the Max ('97). Will a strut spring compressor used for the front work for the rear shocks? I am doing both shocks and struts and have a strut spring compressor for the front. Thanks

 

yes it will work - just be care full with the fonts - there is lot os tension on those springs
use a big vice or some other method of securing the strut assembly

the rears have much less tension , but still be carefull !!!

Thanks for the reply, I thought so. I am getting a strut spring compressor from the auto zone loan a tool. They have a few different types. I know compressing springs is tricky and dangerous so I wanted to be sure.

Nothing exciting going on just stock springs, KYB GR-2's, and new rubber parts. With 125K on the original suspension it's going to be a hell of an improvement.

 

There are short cuts that I use but wont dare to share with you, too dangerous for a first timer. I do it all the time so is not scary to me. You will need a 1/2 breaker bar, 1/2 deep 19mm, 17mm sockets, 14mm socket, flat screw driver. 17mm close end wrench or adjustable wrench. Those are the tools you will definitely need off the top of my head. Good luck!
