AGX/Sprint owners tell me how it is
AGX/Sprint owners tell me how it is
im planning on an agx/sprint on 17" rims setup and im wondering how the performance, ride, and drop is.. can anyone tell me/show me their cars on this drop?
thanks
thanks
I just got my car lowered today with sprints/agx...looks awesome...I'm absolutely loving how it looks. Ride can get harsh and abrupt on bumpy roads...but in my area the roads are for hte most part smooth so it's no biggie. You will definetly feel everything but you'll get used to it fast. I have very little body roll if any at all through turns, and I live in an area with sweeping turns and one sharp turn. I love the setup.
Harsh ride.
Little to no body roll.
Excellent corner carving capabilities granted you have even decent tires.
Great looks.
Perfect COG (center of gravity).
Significantly increased stability at high speeds.
Would I do it again? No. I want a spring that can give me the same performance only a little higher - but I know that's not possible. The majority of the handling improvments come from my lower center of gravity. I'm switching to H-Techs soon - a hard ride doesn't bother me, but I want a stiff spring with good cornering capabilities that doesn't make me scrape my bumper on parking curbs.

That setup is probably as good as you can get in handling, looks and ride comfort.
The Illuminas ride awsome and Eibach's handle great. It's a win/win combo.
Lower is not always better. Without suspension travel your car will not handle correctly and could possibly cause you to lose control over very rough road surfaces.
Your suspension should absorb bumps and keep your vehicle stable while keeping your tires planted on the ground. It's not supposed to transfer that force to the chassis of the car. If you have a harsh or bouncy ride, your suspension isn't doing what it's supposed to do.
A good handling setup should ride firm, not harsh and definately should not bounce over bumps.

each his own tho. u have to try things to see if you like them or not.
FYI: ur looking at frt wheel gap at about 2 fingers and rear gap about 3. just an idea of lowness.
good luck

Remember you get what you pay for too. I dont know exactly what setups are out there yet for the A32 but I know that JICs FLTA2 should be available and they are inverted monotube meaning that you could lower the car way down, but still have the suspension travel.
Also you can look for a suspension that has an adjustable lower bracket so you can adjust ride height without moving the spring perch.
its a harsh ride i got 18's and KYB AGX shocks and sprint srpings, it looks cool as hel thou but the ride isint all that good even on the softest setting but its really not that bad so like what im trying to say your gonna feel alot of bumps in the road
I had Sprint Springs and KYB AGX Shocks and now I have H&R Springs with KYB AGX Shocks. I'm much happier with the H&Rs as far as ride comfort goes. The only downside is that the drop isn't as low as the Sprints. I didn't like the Sprints because there was no suspension travel. Even the smallest bumps made the car feel like it was going to fall apart. I even broke one of my suspension mounts on a bump with the Sprints. The H&Rs are much nicer. I'd say that they are comparable to the ride of the stock SE springs. Like I said, the only downside is that the drop isn't as low as the Sprints. With my 18" wheels, it's plenty low for me.

I just installed my Sprint/AGX setup this past summer. The sprint drop is what sold me on these springs. But overall the ride is smooth and very controlled when cornering. Over most bumps though the car does jolt a lil bit, buts its nothing im not used to by now. It also depends where you set your AGX to. Ive tried almost every combo and so far 2 in the front and 4 in the rear seems to work the best for me. Guess thats the perk of having adjustable struts and shocks.
Make sure though if re-doing your suspension to try and replace as much as you can while everything is apart. I replaced the front strut bearings, all 4 dust boots for the KYB boots (give the rear a lil more travel than stock boots)from Tirerack and all spring isolators as well. I also wrapped all my springs in wire wrap as well to help reduce any risk of noise. One other thing you may wanna consider is a set of Motivational Strut mounts for the rear, these are designed to give your car an inch or two of more travel in the rear. And from ive heard they work very well on cars lowered over 1.5 inches.
hope this helps :0

Oh by the way my Sprint/AGX setup is about the same firmness as my brother's 350Z Touring. I'm sure there are many stock cars that ride rougher (BMW Sport packages, Porsches, Audi S-series) than the Maxima, so don't think it's a track-only setup like most full coilovers.
Tom, my plan is to go with AGX and Tein H-Techs. Nobody to my knowledge has these so I will be the test dummy. The logic sounds good though - a tall spring with good cornering capabilities not due to it's spring rates or COG but rather it's composition. I guess we'll have to wait and see how good they are, I should have them on by the end of this month.
