92 rear speaker installation

i'm trying to install speakers into the back of my max, and i can't seem to be able to get them in right.......i found somewhere an article on how to do it, but it just says lift the rear deck up, and thats where i got lost. i think the rear deck is where the grilles are right behind the seats, but i can't get it to lift up too easily. i don't know if i should just pull up on it until it comes out, or is there anything holding it in that i have to take out first. (i have the back seats out)........any help would be appreciated, thanks

I've had three third gens and I have never taken the rear deck off. All you have to do is look up inside your trunk. You loosen four nuts and the stock speakers fall right out. then you mount your aftermarkets in the same way.

I replaced my rear speakers & had to remove rear seat & deck - the nuts were welded onto shelf & speakers sat in the shelf itself - couldn't fall thru (Edit: ILOVEMYSE max's have been Bose Equipped; non-bose means removing seat & deck).

The deck will pull up - is held in place by plastic clips so don't be too gentle. If you've got the rear seat back out, that's the hardest part.
6.5in speakers are exact fit & shouldn't require any extra drilling etc.

i think you can also unclip it from the trunk (using needle nose pliers or something) so you wouldn't have to pull up so hard on it.

6.5's are NOT an exact fit. but i'm pretty sure 6.75's are. (they're 6.5's with a bigger thing around the speaker.)

just pull the back seat out to get the rear deck off. 6.75's are direct fit.

I did the same... for a pic check out p.4 on my homepage. I went with a pair of 6x9 for a direct swap.

i had the bose with the 6x9's in the back, so i guess i just have to deal with putting the speakers in with the damn screws always moving up, thanks anyways, i just hoped there was an easier way to do it.
