Some simple pics of the 13" Cobra bracket and caliper

Polishing is just preliminary stages. Some areas are polished just to show how it might work. Those are the production brackets though. I've since ground off the "sumitomo" as it was too much of a pain to polish around. I've ground off some other little items also.

The calipers look much shinier now. Most of that caliper in the picture is just sanded

Most if it is fairly easy. I found that using a 120grit flapwheel on a drill works to get 85% of the caliper sanded smooth. But it's the little fin areas and the "wave" areas on either side of the caliper that takes mucho time. Here is the process I have done.
1) Big aluminum grinding wheel to grind off the sumitomo and the little casting "circles" on either end of the caliper. That takes maybe 20min. Just avoid putting big gouges in the aluminum.
2) Sand those areas with 80 grit sandpaper. Again not hard.
3) Use the 120grit flapwheel on the drill and smooth as much as the caliper as you can.
4) I hand sanded the 120 scratches down with 220 grit paper.
5) Then I used 3m rubbing compound and some dremel polishing wheels to take the 220 off. This makes is pretty shiney. Most sites will tell you to sand with 600, 800,1200 etc.. funk that man.
6) Then do a final polishing with the Simichrome or that Nambe stuff to get it super shiney.

The hard part is the little fin areas. What a pain.

Total time for one caliper? Probably a good 4-6 hours. I just do a little at a time

For Donald. I bought the brake lines here:
http://www.anplumbing.com/
fronts are 22" long. Stock is 20" long. I think the stock 20" would be fine. p/n is 63071022. (22")
rears are of course stock length. p/n 63071520

I have NOT trial fitted the lines other than checking to see if the lines thread into the caliper. Which they of course do.

Install was a success! Brackets and calipers line up perfectly. Also the SS lines work and fit perfect. Although, I'd go with the stock 20" front line instead. No need to order the 22" front line.

No rubbing anywhere and fits under my 17 x 8 rims perfectly.

Davebond took pics and they should be up in a day or so.

I'm still bedding in the brake pads and I'm using some cheapie Napa units. But it gets better and better the more I drive it.

The 13" rotors look HUGE under these rims.

I think he got them off a Z32 TT a while back... not sure. I think you could get them (the aluminum 30mm calipers) on Skylines too.

So other than the bracket that u made did u have to make any other mods to the braking system. Im thinkin of selling my SSBC calipers those would look better and the say Nissan on them, u think a yard would have some?

those rotors look familiar
Jeff was also saying he noticed he has to push farther on the pedal (moving more fluid), but it's quite nice

Are you selling the brackets to others by any chance? I would be willing to buy them for 40 bucks. Did you make them, or did you have a machine shop do it up?

If you guys are truely interested in Jeff's "exact" set-up, along with all the parts he listed you will need hub centric rings to center the Cobra rotor onto our hubs. I did a GD in the pass for the rings and it turned out pretty good. Due to popular demand I was asked if I could furnish the rings again so I'm currently doing another GD for the rings. If you haven't seen or read this thread ----> http://forums.maxima.org/showthread.php?t=244197 I would suggest reading all 7+ pages, good info and pics. That's right all 7 pages

In short I must say a couple things, both are very important.
1)get the 30mm Z32 calipers and not the 26mm caliper
2)make sure your rims can accomodate this set-up. This one goes without saying, I just trying to make it a point.

No not yet. Even when the fronts were stock, they didn't do a damned thing. Upgrading the fronts is easier in the fact that you can upgrade the beegezes out of them and it's all good. But the back, you want to make absolutely 100% sure they don't lock before the fronts. Or it's 180 deg time. Not nice.

I don't have ABS on this car. And you wouldn't really want to rely on a safety system to overcome a design mistake.

Ok ladies and gents, I've gotten a couple PM's asking if the hub-rings are still available so I'm going to hi-jack Jeff's thread to post info about the rings. This was taken directly from my other thread on a main discussion forum.

2 orders of rings will be $48 to your door
5 orders of rings will be $43 to your door
10 or more orders will be $33 to your door

All the above prices are base on a PayPal payment, if you desire to mail in a payment (money order, personal check, etc) you can minus $1 from the above price.

My Paypal account info = mikey_rl@yahoo.com

If you want a set (or as many as you want) of rings as of now you can paypal or mail in $33 for each set you want. Drop me a PM or email and I'll give you my mailing address. This is base on a 10 or more orders just in case we reach that amount. You guys surprise me last time so you never know. As the payments are confirmed cash in my account I will let you guys know were we stand in the group deal. If for whatever reason we dont exceed the 10 or more order you guys will PayPal me the difference base on the final count. So keep in mind you might pay as much as $48 a set or as little as $33 a set for the rings. If you understand and this is ok with you my PayPal account is now open.
So far I've got 2 confirmed orders, 3 more confirmed orders and the price goes down to $43 to your door, and so on and so on. I've answered the two PM's that I recently recieved and I'm posting here just incase others may be interested.

MIKE

Performance update. I still haven't 100% romped on these brakes but I've done some 50-75% hard braking. From what I can compare to a stock-ish 3-gen. Ie.. my car/mr. gone's car, the performance is very good. The same pedal pressure hauls down the car much faster. I haven't had the guts to test the fade resistance.

Your are right. Can you park your car let's say 115ft away while I test these brakes from 60 to 0 mph?

Adaptor brackets from me. $40+shipping. And you need the hub rings from candiman to center the rotors.
You will also need some ss lines. www.anplumbing.com
fronts: 63071020
rears: 63071520

These are for a 3-gen but should be fine for a 4th gen. The fronts are designed to eliminate the small hard line that pokes out of the Z caliper. But if you would rather use the 240 conversion lines, I have an extra front set for sale. $40 shipped.

Pics of the bracket mounted and painted. Also shows the correct way to mount the bracket.

Cobra rotor, ss lines, rotor hub rings and polished calipers.

I have gone though the 2nd batch of brackets and am ready to order the 3rd set. Chime in asap if you want some brackets.
