car wash=frozen maxima

well, i just got back from washing my car at the self wash and what an experience that was. for starters, the foam brush was frozen to the wall, so i had to use the soap spray for the whole car...saved myself some time, but i would've liked to scrub it down a bit.

anyway, moving along...as i'm rinsing down the car, some of the water immediately starts to freeze and i know it's only gonna get worse from there. so i finish rinsing her off and i kid you not, the water starts freezing all over my car. i try drying it off as fast as i can, but i just ended up smearing slush. i did end up getting a few parts dry(hood, windows). my entire spoiler is blanketed in a thin layer of ice now and there's little icicles hanging between the spoiler and the truck.

so, just a word of warning for those of you living on the east coast where it's in the negatives now...if you wanna wash the salt off of your car at a self wash place, be prepared to drive home with beads of ice all over your car.

You shoundnt be cheap and just go to a hand wash car wash where they wash it inside a nice heated garage... I got mine blown dryed and polished while I checked out a playboy magazine they had in the waiting area... Cost a lil extra but no Ice sheets is worth it... And thous machine carwashes suck with all thous salty shammies and dirty rags, plus they do a quick job with a long line to get in...

I would never use that foam brush at the drive-thru. That thing has as much dirt in it as a stripper. Think about all those small rocks and stuff scratching your paint job. Bring your own mitt when you wash.

same thing happened to me. i didn't even think of it and thought it was above freezing but i quickly learned otherwise. it got the salt off but left a nice layer of ice. i'd definately rather a little ice than salt on the car.

You wanted to use the foam brush for your car? Please dont ever use that brush on your car unless its a 1986 Beater that you dont care about. Those brushes can scratch the paint and leave swirl marks all over the place. Not to mention my friends and I use that for our wheels when they're extremely dirty.

i heard of some guy doing a car wash in freezing temps and he thought it'd be a good idea to wash his car with warm water and the windows immediately cracked. It was funny but felt sorry for the guy. It was an Audi A4. Ouch~!

Your first mistake was wanting to use the foaming brush for anything but your wheels. Are you insane? You're destroying your car using that POS on it...especially during the winter when it's covered in sand and salt and crap.

Your second mistake was trying to dry the car without using a "sponge" to clean it. When you do that you are just grinding dirt into your car.
