which synthetic engine oil for 2k SCed auto Max.
ran into a chemist??
i met a chemist at a local indy meet and he claims that for a sc'd motor we should run 15w55 mobile one synthetic, also many 240z turbo guys run this same oil, due to its thicker viscosity it provides more "cushion" . I am planning on running it next summer.
First, I'd run Amsoil or Redline.
Second, the thicker oil will protect better at operating temp, but with the SICK speeds chargers turn, I'd be concerned about getting oil to the bearing(s) as soon as possible during startup.
With a turbo, I'd run 0W to help spool, engine be damned, however with a SC, I don't think that's as much a concern because it's belt driven. I'd start at a 5W-30, perform an oil analysis and then go up from there. You need to perform a couple analysis inorder to tell what kind of drainage interval you need for your driving style/climate, so you can play with the viscosity to find out what your car likes better.

oil?
my car is using alittle more than 1 qt every 3000 miles during in town driving, and on interstate driving it uses about 2 qt every 3000 miles. however i have done an compression check and it is great, my next check is possible blow by the valves, or bad valve guide seals, also I've been playing with different oil and so far haven't found a difference- i think-by the way that redline buys it base stock from mobil and then adds its own components to that.
