Hey all....Ive had a CEL on for about 3 months now for the o2 sensors and egr valve.....yesterday afterwork I go to start my car and the cel is gone! It never came back on today either....why would the cel suddenly go out? Does it automatically go off after a certain amount of time? Im confused here.....any help appreciated! thanks!

 

I just thought....maybe it being on so lonf blew the bulb? is that possible?

 

the bulb should be fine...if the problem isn't detected again, i think it turns off after a certain amount of starts. it will probably come back if they're real.

yep, it'll come back.. the same thing happens to me.
i need to change my knock sensor and front 02 sensor, and i didn't change it for about 8 months.
so the CEL goes on and off,

 

i had my cel come on, and i didn't fix it and it want away and it still hasn't came back for about a year now.

 

Mine was on for a good 4 months and it went off about a week and a half ago anbd hasnt came back on since. i also had the rear O2 sensor CEL as well as the knock sensor. I bought better gas since then too.

 

When the key is in the "ON" position(all dash lights light up), is the Check engine light on? If not, then the bulb died.

 

i used to have CEL for the o2 sensors as well. this was well over a year ago. this lasted for like a month, on and off. it hasnt come back on since

 

it will turn itself off after awhile but sooner or later it will come back

My cel was never on when the key was in "on". only after I start the car. Now when I start the car it is not on. The guy at mieneke said carbon may have built up and just burned off.

 

I think your bulb is dead.
