I went to get an estimate today, because I hit a curb, the guy told me that I needed to replace the 2 front struts for the right tire. Was he correct about there being two front struts just for the front right tire?

 

Also, will the control arm, and the 2 front struts from the front right tire of a 96 maxima fit on a 98 maxima?

 

yea usualy u have to replace in pairs, i donno y but he is right, u don't have to, but its up to you. and i think they will fit. but im not sure u might want to double check on that.

 

4 struts/shocks in all for ALL 4 WHEELS. 4/4=1

 

only1. the strut is the strut/shock assembly so maybe he said it in a way making you think they are seperate units.

 

Get some KYB AGX's or GC's while your at it. I don't know about his accuracy but if you do have to do the struts you can do it yourself very easily. When I hit the curb the control arm and spindle were bent but the struts were fine. It does seem odd to me that the shock wave of the impact would travel through all the suspension work and only bend the opposite strut. That makes me question the mechanic. Go somewhere and get a second quote.
