12.2 vs. 13.0

Hmmm.... For some reason I thought the difference was gonna be more dramatic... oh well.

So you upgraded from 12.2" to 13" rotors? Which kit do you have?

The drastic difference will be when you step on your brakes after the install.

I doubt if it'll make a big difference in braking performance over the 12.2"... it would probably only make a difference in decreased brake fade (which i never have even with the 12.2"). I just wanted to fill up the 18" wheels... I should have got the 14" rotors.

The original kit is from FASTBRAKES...

I have to get some custom brackets made...

Hmm... which calipers did the fastbrakes kit come with? I've got the precision kit and was thinking about stepping up to the 13" as well.

They originally came with the Billet Superlites...
I have replaced them with a smaller narrowmount Dynalite... It may or may not work with the 13"... I may get some newer forged superlites... Let's see if the 13" with the dynalites fit on the stock 16" SE rims!

I got smaller pistons on the dynalites (they are very close to the original SA of the stock calipers so the pedal firmness is near stock).

That 12.2 inch rotor looks toasted!

I currently have the fastbrakes kit with the BSL calipers. I have some brand new forged superlites (1.38 bore) waiting in my basement until it gets warm out. The BSL's flex like a *****!, just holding the FSL's I can tell they are so much stronger.

What is the SA of the stock 4th gen piston?

Yep... the BSL flexed alot... the new narrowmount dynalites are pretty stiff too.

Those 12.2" were toasted... I am now running the UL rotors again until the change. You'll like the 1.38", that's what I'm running now... the pedal feel is great. If you haven't gotten the pads... don't use the poly E's they are noisy as ****. Get the the Q's.

Stock piston is 2" so SA = pi (3.14in2)

Good to hear you like the 1.38 piston size. I wanted something smaller to get rid of some of the bias. I've used the Q series pads, that came with the kit, they dusted like a ****, I like my Hawk HPS a lot better.

Did those forged dynalite calipers, mount with the same bracket you used with the BSL's. I think they have different mounting holes?

They have a 3.5" spacing... bolts right up... as does any other one with that spacing (given same rotor thickness design)

Did you just use the hats off your 12.2s (or identical ones anyways)? Where did the 13.0" rotor come from was it a totally custom job or did you have an existing 13" rotor modified?

I got the NDL, narrow dynalites confused with the FDL, forged dynalites...which dont have the 3.5 spacing
