aftermarket ypipe + bpipe with stock muffler?

How would an aftermarket ypipe and bpipe sound with a stock muffler? Also, with the bpipe, would a 2.5" bpipe fit the stock muffler flange? I heard about some fitment issue? Or would a 2.25" bpipe be better? I know that shouldn't have any fitment issue.

Btw, I'm asking this for a friend. He picked up a 5spd 4th gen a month ago. He knew I have a Maxima, so he started to ask me questions on mods. I never had this setup, so I didn't want to give him false information. That's why I ask you guys. He had a older Prelude before. I converted him.

One of the best setups I've heard is as follows:

Budget Y + mandrel bent, non-resonated, 2.5" b-pipe + 5th Gen muffler = sweet sound with no drone.

The 5th gen muffler was modified to fit under the 4th gen bumper and to accept a 2.5" pipe right into the muffler.

that is what I plan on doing. I am getting a Budget y-pipe, probably, and I am having a b-pipe and midsection custom made to be 2.5". I am also putting on a 5th gen SE muffler. I will be cutting out the bumper so that it will fit as well. I have to get some stuff fixed after someone bumped my max from behind, so I am just going to do it all then. I have been told the same thing about no drone. I don't want loud, just power.

Why would it be illegal?

You can have an aftermarket b-pipe... The y-pipe is illegal

They will probably never know it is on there though. Do like I do here, go somewhere that you know they will not look for that.

When I went to get my emission testing done last Sept/Oct they didn't even check anything. They just pulled the car in and checked the gas cap and then they did the test and I was out of there in no time

They weren't too picky like some people have posted here. I remember one guy failed the emission testing for not having good wiper blades or something.

How about a Warpspeed ypipe, Warpspeed resonated 2.5" bpipe, and a 4th gen muffler? How would that sound? That's the direction he wants to go.

Cumalot, that would probably sound awesome. I think so, at least.

Probably really similar to mine when I get it set up. I will have a slight different sound at WOT with the 5th gen muffler though.

I have warpspeed Ypipe and Bpipe w/resonator 2.25in,
stock cat and muffler, almost stock sound, slight deep burble at idle,
my intake is louder at WOT.

does a 5th gen muffler really produce that much more of a gain then a 4th gen to warrant the extra work you need for it???

I am getting a pretty good tax return, so, how does the complete 2.5" warpspeed exhaust sound with the muffler that comes with the kit magnaflow. Does it sound nice and deep, because for $599 you get the complete exhaust from y-pipe all the way to muffler. I am really interested in in some info...if anyone has a download sound clip with that set-up, that would be great! I just don't want any annoying sounds, if it could sound like the 350Z, or like the sound on the opening of the magnaflow website, that would be insanely great!
