Putting in a 95-96 ecu in a 97?

I have a 97 SE auto and heard that you can put a 95 or 96 ecu in it but i will give a check engine light. Is this correct? Anyway to have it not light up? Also, how much would one of these ecu's cost? I want to get a 95 or 96 auto ecu to put in my 97 and then send it off to technosquare.

I wil have my 96 ecu for my 97 gxe saturday. Some people do not get CEL's . I guess it has alot to do with how well you match your ecu to the trim you have now, and the time period the ecu was manufactured. Get one 11/95 and after for a 97, most of those will not get a CEL is what i understand. I tested mine before I sent it off, and didnt get a CEL.

GOOD luck.
