so my 96 gle had been running poor for a while - getting ~250/tank freeway miles, and would idle at ~500 rpm - i tested my coils and they were all ~1.55 ohms (a few months ago) i was able to get a good deal on a set of six, so i replaced them. car runs smoothly now, no mid-rpm range hesitation at WOT- no shake and shimmy at idle, and the fuel gauge has not moved in ~70 miles since last fill up. i tested the old coils with an ohmmeter, here are the results

INTAKE MANIFOLD

FRONT OF ENGINE/CAR

all 3 coils from the firewall side had a patch of melting plastic on the side by the connector - the front ones LOOKED fine, but had overall higher resistance.

if i am reading this correctly, then 4 coils (over 1.6 ohms) were bad, and 2 (1.59x) were close- right? and how the heck do you clean the entire intake system? there was a can of stuff that sucks in, people talked about it a while back but i cannot find ANY data about it now - i need to clean out all the garbage from when my car was running bad, and in 100k miles, my intake has never been cleaned. not talking about just the TB, but the manifold as well. any response is appreciated~!
