Apine HU and CD text...

i was wondering if anyone could explain to me something about the cd text feature on an Alpine CDA-9811... For example when i put in an "Big TYmers" cd bought from a store, the text does not display automatically... i have to manually put in the words and the HU wont allow me to put over 8 characters... I put in another cd that i burned from an original off my computer ,"3 6 mafia", and their name scrolls across the screen along with the full track list of every song and it scroll with over 8 characters... This is the only cd out of like 10 that have had the text automatically... if anyone can help shed some light on this for me i would really appreciate it.. thanks

I think the 9811/9813/9815 all display the TAG information from .mp3/.wma files. When you buy a cd in a store there is not TAG info because the music format is .wav. I think the HU can be manually programmed to recognize a certain number of CD's with a title that you add (maybe 250 or 500 I forget).

what ABS siad was true and also if you want a store bought CD to have all that info the CD should say "TEXT" on the case or CD. Not too many companies do that.
peace
P.S. i'll be in N.O. in March, i'm in the military right now.
