Trouble Starting???
Trouble Starting???
My car seems to have a problem starting sometimes. If it hasnt been driven for awhile (3-4 hours while im school before lunch) ill come out and try to start it up, and it just keeps turning over until i give it some gas. It's cold out here in sheboygan, wisconsin, so would that play into it? or is it a sign my starter is gonna go soon...i've got 103k on it. This problem only happens sometimes, not everytime
I'm having a similar issue on mine wiht about 120k. The thing is, mine will start, but it won't idle unless I give it gas for about 5 seconds.. havne't figured out what's wrong, but haven't tried to figure it out yet.
mine wont start unless i pump the gas, and then its fine. its weird, because i thought it happened in the cold temps. but even when its warm, (was recently 40 here, thats like summer for me), and it did it too...so im not sure. maybe ill have AutoZone test my starter since they do it for free
it happened to me once, i'm at 86k. Went to market, bought groceries. (that's what the maxima's for
) came back out after 30 min and car took an extra 2 seconds to start. It was chugging to start. It was a warm start too. I'm scared of the starter dying out now. Is there a way to prevent it from happening?

i had the same problem too checked it out and it was the coolant temperature sensor it was corroded when the engine is cold and u crank it the cts sends a wrong signal to the ecu and the ecu sends more gas to try to start the engine and thats where the problem is hope this helps u guys out its like $25 new @the dealership
It seems more like and ECTS (Engine Coolant Temp Sensor) rather than a starter problem since the problem occurs in cold weather as you described. The ECTS is located on the drivers side of the engine near the Knock Sensor Sub Harness Connector. It is bolted on top the coolant pipe, second bolt from the front. Try cleaning it first, if it persists then replace it.
