problem after cleaning IAC

I took my IAC apart and cleaned it all. Now the valve with the brown connector (IAC valve?) is not working properly. It is making ticking noises. I pulled it apart and set it all the way back in and put everything together, cleared the ecu (just in case), and after it gets all the way back out it starts clicking again and my idle is messed up. Does any one know what is going on?
