'03 TE rims paint coming off (w/pics)

I've read about this before, those that took this prob to the dealer, do they replace the rims or just repaint them? I want new rims obvisouly.

I noticed small chips on two rims, one F/D , the other R/P. I washed the car today, terry cloth rag and car wash soap. Started to rince off, and the paint just started to peel away with water from hose. Here they are! I have to say, I've owned 3 other cars with painted alloy wheels, none have ever done something like this.

Are you sure didn't use acid or any kind of power wash?

Absolutely positive. Never once been to a car wash. I've had the car for a year, and actually only washed it 3 times so far. Rinsed it from a hose, and only used mild soap and water. I never use care products. The wierd part is, only two of the rims did this, the other two are fine (so far)

What makes you so sure of yourself? He's been saying he hasn't done anything out of the ordianary to them and you sit back in your chair and call him a liar?

I hope the dealer takes care of those sorry rims for him.

Also, I would just take some regular se rims instead. at least it last longer. I know know, they are rare and they're worth more.

If it was something I did, I would have had to use paint remover to get them like that. Unless I'm having psychotic episodes, I don't remember putting paint remover in the bucket, and during that psychotic episode I only washed 2 rims. Seriously though, I know how to take care of a car.

That paint peeled perfectly off the primer base (that's the black part). Something went wrong with the paint process. I recall reading some other having the same problem. I think they must have had a bad batch get through production. I was just wondering what happened to the other folks that experienced this so I can prepare myself when I go to the dealer.

From what others have said, I shouldn't have a problem. For anyone that knows what they're talking about, it's obvious these rims are defective. And like MONTE said, I think I'm going to get all 4 replaced even though the other 2 are fine.

Thanks for all the help folks!!!

I'll post back when I get this taken care of.

but I do have chipped paint on my hood....

but that's another story, for another thread..
