SVT contour vs ME vs SVT focus

Tonight, I ran a three way against some ford SVT's. I was heading back home after dropping off my g/f. My car is riced out some, (so I am looking for some attention) anyhow I reach a stop light, and its three lanes, I look into my back review mirro and I see a car halling ***, its turns right and gets on the right side of me. Its a guy named John, (i've raced him before, and won) he rolls down his window and says whats up, little chit chat say if I wanna run again, I say sure, he tells me he wants to check out his intake. Ok, so were there reving each other. Then comes this fuxking annoying riced out tone. I look over to my left and a SVT contour rolls up too. I guess he saw/heard us, and wanted to join. I know the driver from school but we dont talk. So there we are all three, reving, the left turn signal goes, (saying in about 5sec all the lights will turn green) I dont shift to 2nd (for soem reason upshifting has help me win in some races) GREEN!!!! Tires screech from both SVT's I take them in first, focus rolls up to me, Contour does the same, 2nd I'm pulling on both contour is closer to me, than the focus, the focus is on my back door, the contour at my door. we're hitting 60 going to 70, I'm ahead at least half a car. We start braking cause in about 40sec they'll be another light. Bam, I smoked these fools, the SVT turns into a jack in the box, and the focus rolls up next to me. He complains that he wants his money back cause the intake sucks, it slowed him down, ( I think soo, cause this time he wasnt as close to me as other times.) Anyhow I get to talk trash about those cars.

On a side note which is faster the SVT contour or the focus?? The contour seemed pretty fast, but its all riced out big time (that how it is stock?) poor thing. I prefer the focus, and I think its faster some how right?

Nice wins...I would think that the contour would be a tad faster than the focus. The focus seems to be a lot lighter than the contour. But the contour SVT of course hits about 15.4 in the quarter while the focus ZX3 hits about low 16s. Both sucky cars IMO.

Thats what worries me about those gay cars, the contour is pretty quick and I would hate for him to get me on a bad day, and spank me. Hopefully that wont happen.

The SVT contour is about equivalent to a 5-speed stock max, where as the svt focus is definitely more slow.

if you would have raced at a track it would be more accurate. the fact that these cars were pulling on u some makes me believe that they would have caught and passed you. i wouldnt call 1/2 car length "smoking" them

And I am sure that there have been stock 4th gen 5-speeds that run that as well. A lot of it has to do with the driver. If that SVT tour could not beat an automatic 4th gen, then the svt tour's driver was lacking. However if it was a 5-speed vs 5-speed, it would have been a really tight race providing both drivers were about equal.

They are pretty quick if you are caught off guard. Contours with the right modding can be lethal. As for the sentra beating the svt, dunno the svt probably had a sucky driver.

The CSVT is a bit quicker than the FSVT. I'm good friends with a guy that owns the quickest NA CSVT in the country. His current best is a low 14.6@96mph. He had quite a few mods at the time (headers, true dual exhaust, UDPs, ECU, intake, reworked intake manifold, super light battery, ignition). He recently swapped in a 3.0 block in place of the stock 2.5 block and he hopes to dethrown me as the quickest NA V6 sedan at our track. I think he has the potential to do it because his car will be gaining an additional 15fwhp/20fwtq. I'm also friends with 3 other CSVT owners in KC and they're all running 14.9-15.3@93mph+. Put them on a sea level track and they'll be a couple tenths quicker.

so you started from a roll? downshifting ur auto (while rolling, which is the only way to downshift) will not give u more gains unless you have an ecu and mevi. did u mean u started with the shifter in 2nd? that again wouldnt help but either way a win is a win

im good friends with my friend, he's got a 98 contour se, and he just swapped in the 3 liter, 200 hp, 200 tq motor from a taurus. that thing is a sleeper. He's got it straight piped, with a short shifter, k & n air intake, ECU upgrade, ACT racing clutch and a few other minor mods. It's insanely fast. He was running the 1/4 mile in 15.1 with his 2.5 (SE has 175 hp, 165 tq, SVT has 195 hp) motor and those mods, so now we have to take it to the track again with his 3.0 in there. im sure we'll notice significant gains

Depends on who's behind the wheel. My buddies CSVT with the old 2.5 motor would have probably torn your 03 a new one.

how fast is your friends car? Is his car modded? I def beat a stock one though.... Besides, with ford dependabilty, he would tear me a new one right before his engine and transmission broke down... and I would keep on rollin' right by making me the winner

His best is a lower 14.6@96mph. He currently swapped in a 3.0 block and has added drag radials so I assume he'll be running 14.1-14.2@98mph or so now.

Dave

I guess he really will tear me a new one

But i wonder how his car is after 100 mph.. does it pull hard? Because ive noticed that on my dads taurus, theres not a lot of high end power, more low end..... and the gearing sucks on a lot of american cars....

i dont like rice.....

Yeah I shifted on 2nd, waited for the light to turn green and went, after I hit around 5k rpms I shifted up to D. On a side note, what is NISMO gonna make for our cars?? Turbos? Intakes? Pulleys? New Manifolds? Etc.............

All CSVTs are 5 speed and are geared quite well so they'll naturely pull quite good above 100mph stock. The CSVT is good for ~142mph stock with it's 195-200hp high rpm motor. My buddy is making about 180fwhp/165fwtq and his motor revs out to ~7500rpms. In a 3000lb car, his scoots pretty good. Since he was already getting 96mph in the 1/4 mile, that suggests to me that his car has some good topend. 96mph rivals what most stock 6 speed 5th gens are getting. I figure my friend will be getting close to 98-99mph traps now which is pretty strong for a V6. Here's his car and there's nothing rice about it:
