Car is overheating for no reason

I made a couple of errand this afternoon and while driving in some bumper to bumper traffic, I saw a little bit of steam. I got back to my work and opened up the hood and there was a bit more steam. I check my fluids and even though my coolant is a bit low, there's more than enough above the "Min" mark. I checked my other fluids just to be sure, but they were fine also. I had changed them not too long ago anyway.

I'm pretty sure the fan was on. But I took it to the local shop near work and they just called back saying that everything seems fine. They've had the car running and so far, it hasn't overheated. The fluids are fine and the fan is running.

Is there anything else I should check out or be on the lookout for? Could it possibly be due to the fact that there was such a radical shift in temperatures today? It's in the high 50's today and before yesterday, the weather never broke past 45 or so.

You're thermostat could be bad.

May need a coolant flush, how many miles do you have?
But its most likely a thermostat

Thermostat, I would also check your hoses and make sure you don't have any leaks.
