well i completely shaved my max's @ss last night.
i used bondo stuff to fill in the holes then used nissan touch up paint. next is key hole but that will be alot harder to match the paint right.
you can only tell from really close up.

looks good. what are you going to do with the emblems?

 

they are sitting in a closet with the rest of the stock crap i have taken off.

 

for anyone wanting to do it, here is what i did

popped out emblem
used blowdryer to heat of sticky stuff it is secured with
wipped off sticky stuff
use goo gone to clean area
waxed area to make it match rest of car
put tape on the inside of the holes
used bondo to fill in holes
let dry
lightly sanded bodo to be even with rest of body
painted bondo with touch up paint

I thought about doing this, but thought the dip in the lic. plate surround would look kinda funny. Doesn't look too bad...but because of that dip, it almost looks dinted from far away...just my $.02.

Looks cool. Does the emblem get "popped off" from inside? or pried off from the outside?

 

from outside, i took mine half off before i realized, two big azz holes there then put it back on oops.

 

i didnt wanna scratch the paint prying it off
so i just pushed the pastic posts from the inside. popped right off

 

You could put 2 fat LEDs in there to hook up with the brake lights?

 

Very nice! But I think you should invest in a spoiler...the rear looks kind of plain!

 

Looks good. I would have left the Nissan emblem though. Looks too plain. Maybe you can get a spoiler?

jason did you always have the smoked tails or is my memory bad? Also, just a thought about removing the trunk keyhole - if you fill it with bondo and someone knows, they would be able to punch thru it with a screwdriver and open the trunk by sticking a finger into the hole and tripping the mechanism...you don't want that!

 

Why shave that @ss entirely? Doesn't look any better to me. just my opinion though.

 

The void where the Nissan emblem was located looks odd when its removed IMO.

 

CWally did this awhile back and I think it looks pretty good if done right.

 

they have always been smoked. well at least for the past 6 months.
if i do the keyhole, ill get a body shop to do it right to prevent that.

Anyone got pics of a black 2k2-2k3 w/spoiler and shaved rear emblem? I'm thinking about tackling this myself. The rear emblem just seems out of place and is impossible to clean around/inside not to mention wax.

it looks good...but IMO i think it would look better with a stock maxima spoiler

and then you could bolt a picnic table to the trunk, get some
neon valve stem caps, get a 5" tip and put some stickers on.
