it's probably your metallic tint. mine works like it's a 20 foot pole, and i am way outside the atl where most stations broadcast from.

Correct me if im wrong but i was informed that there are actually two antennas in the rear windshield, one at the top that takes most of the width, and the one in the corner. ?? Had to do something with a diversity system or something like that.

it doesn't have to look metallic, if it contains metal instead of dye (or a combo of both) that could mess up the reception. i can think of no other reason...

I never have any problems with clear reception. It works just as good as my 92 SE that had the electric telescoping antenna along with the rear window antenna.

The stock Nissan Diversity antenna system works great with the stock headunit, but when you use an aftermarket headunit that's not designed for it, it sucks ***. It uses a 2-antenna system with 2 signals in the connector, which you need an adapter to hook up to standard aftermarket headunits (which accept 1 signal input)

Has anyone come up with a solution for the **** poor reception for aftermarket headunits? Seems that I only get a good strong signal if I am parked out in front of a 50,000 watt station. I also have the adapter.

it actually starts in the top of the rear window and goes down, then splits. Its a diversity antenna. It uses the heater elements for "added" reception.

Never had any problem with my reception. There are two antenna. One is a primary and the other called the diversity.

NOTE: The Power Antenna line must be activated for you to receive adequate reception. Be sure that is hooked up on the back of your headunit.

With the Power Antenna line hooked up, reception is "adequate", but noticeably worse in fringe areas than the stock headunit...
I don't particularly care since I rarely listen to the radio, and it works pretty well when I'm in sufficient range (i.e. not 30 miles away )

I just put in a new CD HU but had really bad reception at first but after doing some research I found that my problem was caused by.....
NOT CONNECTING THE POWER ANT LEAD
on the harnesses (aftermarket to new HU).

Apparantly the even though our cars don't have power ant they do still use the power ant lead (blue wire) for power for a reception amp or something.

I connected the wires together (I just taped them off 1st) and my reception was instantly better.
Before I had ok reception but when I drove the signal faded, etc.

Hope this helps anyone, it sure helped me and the HU sounds sooo much better than stock non bose!

Good Luck

Robert
