New 04 Maxima owner warrantee question...
We, (my wife and I) just bought an 04 6spd red one. I read most of the posts in this board to get an idea of how reliable we can expect the car to be. Apparently they are pretty good for first year cars but do have a few bugs.
Now we paid 28K but I thought it a descent deal with leather, the moonroof and the 320W bose system.
My question comes from the finance officer that sold us the extended warantee. Basically has Nissan been good to owners about coverage for basic things? We already have an 02 WRX and found that Subaru voids drivetrain warantees for silly reasons (e.g. a turbo timer that extends the life of the turbo is a cause for voidance...)

Mandra - I have not had a lot of experience with warranty work, but the very few times I needed it, there were no questions asked.
I feel a lot might depend on the rapport you have with your dealer, especially the service department. I have used my dealer's service department for everything ever done to my last few Maximas. I have become good friends with the last three service managers, know the owner, and know all the 'writeup' folks (one of whom is the owner's son).
Once, about week after routine service there, I noticed lots of little spots on my front fender. They ended at the break between the fender and the hood, which meant they were made when the hood was up. I took it back to my dealer. Even though they did not know how they caused it, they immediately apologized, gave me a loaner, and repainted the fender.
Although Nissan dealers sells extended warranties, sometimes those are actually backed by some company other than Nissan. But if Nissan sold you the warranty, they are deeply involved in any waranty work that comes up.
Most warranties are very particular about having no modifications made to the power train or anything closely related to the power train. Almost any warranty has specific exclusionary language for cars with such modifications.
Others here who have had warranty work done will be able to help you more than I.
