Foot blower staying on..

When I press the off button for the climate controls, the foot blower always stays on, even when the display is off. Sometimes, if I shut the car off and turn it back on the blower will go off, but other times it won't. I'm thinking there is a short somewhere. Anyone have any idea's or a similar problem?

Hey man yeah i ahve the same prob, but i notice that it only really blows when the windows are open alowing for the air to flow through. There is no pressure stopping the blowing air to come though when the windows are open.

Try pressing the "recirc" button to make the green light come on. (press "off" first, then "recirc," because "off" will cancel the "recirc" function.) If the air flow through the heater stops, then it was caused by pressure due to the speed of the car. If the air flow continues when in "recirc" mode then the blower really is still running and you have a malfunction.

Actually there is an even simpler way. If the air stops flowing when the car is at rest, the blower is not running.

When the system is off, you can press the "mode" button to get air flow through the dash vents (or the floor vents) without turning on the blower. (Of course the a/c compressor won't come on either.) It will work best if you also set the temperature to 60 - this causes the heater door to stay closed so that unheated air flows through. The heater core restricts the air flow quite a bit.
