SS lines on Y2k
SS lines on Y2k
I recently purchased a set of techna fit SS lines from one of the GD in this forum.
I tried to put them on over the weekend and realize it was way to short for the rear brake and also the front. Any idea about the length of this SS lines? I don't feel comfortable installing it knowing that the length is not closely match the oem nor I can compare it to any other brand such as Goodridge since I have none.
Does anyone in the forum has installed this brand or Goodridge?
brake guru please shed some light, I am one confuse max.
TIA

No room for play, 'cause I check Greg's maxima (99) with goodrich ss lines an the picture showing some room for the line to stretch.
any idea?
Thanks for reply

The fronts are about [B]20.75 inches overall [B]. The rears are about [B]23.25 inches overall [B]. The rears are longer than the fronts.

Yeah, the rears are a bit longer. You know, come to think of it I'm not sure what brand I have. I bought mine from Automax_95's GD last fall. Don't recall a brand name listing for it. The hoses work great, and fit perfectly for me.

Yes mine all the same length, I guess they packaged the same item and I am so unfortunate to received it. I will contact Automax to resolve this.
"A great brake set up is useless without the SS lines"
Thanks folk, anywone with goodridge SS lines please let me know the overall length.

think u got a set for the wrong car. I hope mine is the correct one. i dont know maybe mine has too much slack, since the front ones are only supposed to be 21
.mines the same for all 4 around 25 inches.

OK people, thanks for your input. I resolved my issue and I will be getting a new correct SS line set soon.
I believed Techna-fit packaged the wrong item for nissan maxima 2000 fitment, unfortunately I am the one that got it.
FYI: This is the correct length according to techna-fit for year 2000 maxima application:
Front: 20.75 inches overall
Rear: 23.25 inches overall
I used speed bleeder from www.speedbleeder.com to make bleeding is easier.
If you have a longer SS lines than the one Techna fit suggested, please check the fitment on your car, that is possible you have to much slack and it will increase the fluid travel distance to your brake caliper. I have no idea how this will affect your car braking performance.

Thanks Automax_95 for a great setup for the reasonable cost and responsiveness in answering Q's.

I can confirm that a great brake setup is enhanced by SS lines--a stock setup is virtually transformed by them
(much tighter pedal feel, makes me feel much more confident in my brake system...)

Um so i guess my lines are almost 4 inches in rear and 2 inches for the fronts too long?
Anyone know how this would affect the braking?
Would it still be ok to install them, or should i get the lines with the stated length above?

Most stainless steel lines are made about 1/2 inch longer than stock. The
reason for this, is that stainless steel lines are not stretchable, OEM
style rubber lines have some give. Sometimes something is lost in
communication between distributor and customer as to exactly what kit fits.

hmm that still doesnt answer the question. What i want to know is if they are too long (to work properly) otherwise ill see if i can get the proper ones. I dont want to have even worse lines that sag worse than stock ones.
btw it does say nis-1120 on the front
