rock chip in window... found crack. is it fixable?

i dont wanna go out and take a picture so I've made a quick photoshop of what's goin on... I remember like 2 weeks a big bang on my windshield but never thought anything of it because I didn't see any damage. Well, apparently the rock made a mini crater right on the top edge of my windshield! A crack slowly creeped it's way down the dark tint banner on top. I didn't notice the crack till I folded my visor up...

No way am I goin to replace my windshield any time soon.. but can this be filled in professionally? or is it too late... I made the size of the crack relative to the tint banner so you guys get an idea of how big it is. Let me know, thanks!

Too late and the crack will just get bigger. Why try to fill it unless you don't have full replacement insurance on glass coverage. Watch out driving with a cracked windshield for safety reasons. Try to get it fixed asap.

You should had it fixed if you found the crater or what they call bulleye crack. That is fixable. But since you waited, the crack starting to cracking from temperature change, then you have to replace the windshield.

-- If you have full coverage, call your insurance and they will fix the chip for free, waving the deductible. This just happened to me, a guy came over and fixed in my driveway.

No, if the crack can be covered by a dollar bill and it's not in direct view of the driver, glass company such as Safelite can repair it.

i have had a really small crater/pit but its noticeable near the front passenger side its about 1/4 inch in diameter. So far its hasnt spread or cracked. I heard there are kits to fix small cracks like this. Anyone know where i can buy them from and do they work?

I have the same on my windshield. Max seems to be a magnet for stones and rocks.

i called lifelite... apparently they're some national chain of auto glass store. Anyways, they told me the same thing... if it fits within a dollar bill, they can fix it.

However, mine is iffy because it's at the edge of the glass... something about not being structurally sound anymore. bah! $59.99 too.

It doesn't look like that can be fixed. I paid ~135US (180 cdn) to replace my windshield with a new one (they did use new glass), and I did not go through insurance.
