My Roadtest Results after few months on the 6spd

Havn't been here in several months, just been busy with other things. Maxima still holding on. Just hit 30,000 miles on it few days ago. Here's what I think

No mods Except Greddy Evo, Teins and Rims

Gas Miles about 380-420 around town/Some hwy
Plastic Sunroof Visor cracked from Heat (dealer Replaced Under warrenty)
Every now and then if the car's been parked for 1-2 weeks and is first started, it makes a Kraaaaaak Noice (maybe chain hitting somthing)
Clutch throwout bearing makes a squeeking sound when parked in Neutral
Sometimes when I take off like a bat outta hell, Left speaker stops working, Same thing if I go over a real hard Bump
Rattle in the front right door/dash area
Once or twice when I took off and shuffling through gears, The decided it didn't wanna go anymore but then came back to its senses.
Rear brake pads are kinda close to the rotors, in parking lot you can hear noise from rear brakes but the Pads have about 70% life in em.
Wind noise from Rear left door at Hwy Speeds
Factory Touchup paint doesnot match the color on the car

one of these days I'll show up at my "FRIENDLY" Nissan dealer to have them take care of the little problsm with rattles and the speakers .....

All in All I'm still happy with this car and its still a blast to drive. "FOR THE MONEY" its a hell of a car.

I agree, best car I've owned as well. That's compared to a Mustang GT and Accord V6. I think it's a good combo of the two.

Run, don't walk, to the dealer and get ALL the TSB's performed before the 3yr mark....UNLESS you've got the extended warranty....

Love the MAXIMA!!....

I can never believe how people actually get 400 miles a tank on a regular basis by driving in town or some highway. You guys must have manauls and you keep it below 2200 rpm all the time. how can you enjoy driving like that?!

When I drive, i drive 80% of the time below 3k rpm and the other 20% is above 3k ...and i never get more then 300 in the city.

For the record, About 90% of my driving is b/w 5000-67-6900RPM depending on how far the ECU will let me go that day. You guys keep all your fluids, and filters in check??
change oil about 2000-2500Miles Mobil 1 5w30 synthetic
Change transmission fluid every other oil change, Redline MT-90
Change Air filter Every other oil change Nissan Filter
use Nissan Oil filter
Only Use 93 Fuel
Keep Air Pressure in tires at 44PSI "ALWAYS"

I'm looking into purchasing a used '02/'03 six speed by the end of the year. My question is how do you guys feel about the shifter? Any problems with grinding or going into gear?
I just test drove the '05 Alti and the shifter is definetly improved over last years model.

You change your tranny fluid every other time you change your motor oil? Doesn't that seem a little too much?
I know you love your car, but come on now.

By Too Much, Do you mean price factor or Piece of Mind Factor? $8 a bottle x 2.5 bottles is not that bad in my book.

44PSI!?!?!....thats TOO much man, You dont feel like you're driving on rocks all the time? How does your car stay in turns

If you drive 90% of the time between 5000-6900rpm, there is no way you can get that many miles on the tank. The 3.5 does drink gas, because i know whenever I have a little bit of fun with my 02, you see the fuel guage go down. I do take care of both the cars 100% mechanicly, not too much like you , but more then the average people. I dont drive hard all the time, and i am lucky to even get 17-18mpg in the city.

That's EXTREMELY dangerous and dramatically decreases grip in corners/wet traction and the ride plain sucks.

Stick with what the manufacturer says under the arm rest or on the door jamb UNLESS you've gone to different tires? Even then, that's extreme man.

DEFINITELY read this ~~~>http://forums.maxima.org/showthread....5&pagenumber=1

Just a couple things, not only does 44 psi sound too high, wouldn't you really want a higher pressure in the front than the back anyway for over/understeer balance?

Also, let's post the mileage figures in MPG, not miles per tank. Unless everybody refills at exactly the same point that's non-info. I usually get around 19mpg w/ my automatic, haven't been on a decent highway trip yet.

Take care of your car, and she'll be there for you in return.

I agree, something's not right here. I have a 2K2 6 speed and I've never gotten anywhere near that kind of fuel economy. When the car was new, I got 17-18 mpg regularly. Since break-in and some of the TSB's, I'm now getting around 20-21 on the average with mostly highway driving. I do tend to speed though !

I dont understand this....whenever I drive hard, i get like 15-16mpg, when i drive it alright I get 18mpg. This is all in the city btw.

I know you dont have to floor it at all with the 3.5, they got plenty of power with 10% gas lol. but, I never even got 400 on the highway or even got close, and you tell me you get that in the city?!...that doesnt make sense at all
