Installed 350Z horns today....WOW! What a difference!

Well, I installed my 350Z horns today and let me tell you...what a difference it makes compared to the stock horns! Tone is much more deeper in sound and much louder! Well worth the money if anybody doesn't have these installed on their car. I had used the stock locations because of security purposes of the factory alarm. I installed the low Hz near the coolant reservoir, and the high Hz behind the grille. (If my horn sounded with alarm, I didn't want a risk of someone easily cutting the wires). I may move the low Hz behind the grille with the high Hz at a later date. Right now, I just wanted to install them because the factory horn is so weak and lame. What's up with Nissan installing these on our Max's!

So just unplug oem horns, and plug the 350Z horns in? That easy? Grill has to come off?

I just put Hella Supertones in over the weekend (the big horns). Really easy. The one on the passenger side just barely fit. They are about 4" in diameter, they look to be about 30% to 50% bigger than the stockers. These things are NUTTY!

WHen I hit the horn while driving, I can feel the vibrations in the floor boards and in the pedals. The kit has a 300Hz and 500Hz horn.

I'm really amazed at how loud these are for electrics. Probably the loudest electrics you can buy. I stood in front of the car when my wife hit 'em and I could literally feel these things in my chest. WHen I hit my alarm at work, it's almost like someone is hitting something with a big hammer when they "chirp".

I paid $73 total from an online vendor (that's cost+shipping).

Yeah, very simple install. Just use the factory plugs. With the 350Z horns, though, you have to run ground wires to them in order for them to work. Also, use the factory brackets to mount them. The ones that come with the Z horns, the mounting holes are too small. No need to take off grill. Just remove 12mm bolt and remove horn. (If your hands are big like mine, you may get some scratches from the A/C condenser).

Id got the OEM Z horns, not the accessory ones MIXX got. Ive had them in since they became available and I too wonder why nissan never did it from the factory. Makes the horn sound real manly, instead of the little beep that the stock ones give

WTF is up with people replacing horns now? No more mods for the maximas or what? We're talking about a horn here... Put on some headers or a turbo kit. Goodness.

Beg to differ: For our Dad's B-day my bro and I made the one and only mod (so far) on Dad's new pickup..... That's right, a louder dual-tone horn. We did not consider this an optional mod, just had to do it.

Anyone have sound clips of BOTH the stock 350Z horns and the accessory 350Z sport horns (like those at Courtesy)? I'm trying to decide between the shiney cheaper accessory horn and the plain (but who sees it anyway) stock 350Z horn. E55AMG2, you mentioned you had sound clips of your 350Z stock horns. Where? (It's early so I may just have missed it )

I just installed my set of 350z sport horns. Took me 5 minutes and i didnt need to run the ground wire to them to make them work it was a plug and play install. sounds ALOT better too.
