Tranny dipstick-

Is this thing for real? I can barely read it! I am thinking that maybe its low, and its causing my rough shifts? I was thinking of maybe putting in a quart to se what happens, but you know what they say- assumption is the mother of all fu(k ups. Any tips? I had the pan dropped and had fresh fluid (castrol mercon 3 or whatever is supposed to be in there) put in a bout 10k ago, and it was shifting very nicly, but it's now back to its old ways again. Does it need to be topped off? I seems to be in the middle of the grid when the car is cold if i remember. i attemted to read it about a month ago. Little Help?

When the car is cold it's suposed to be between those 2 notches on the other side. After you drive it for 5 minutes or so it should be on the checker grid you mentioned. It says hot or cold on either side. I just did my tranny flush and had to drain like 4 quarts after putting in 10. Now it's nice and level.
