I sold the Max for a 350z yesterday...

So I finally came into a good deal. Traded in the Maxima for a 2004 350z. I loved my Max, but the Z is just too great. Thanks for all the help that I got from you guys about my Max. I learned alot about cars in general here and I suspect I will still hop on and check out what's new on the forum. Thanks again!

I got $17450 for the Max and the Z for $29200. So my difference was $11750. I put down $3983.51 to get it down to $22000 to be financed for 60 months at 3.5% APR. My payments are only $15 more than the Max was and insurance went from $96 to $120. Considering that KBB trade in on my car was $16800, and the Z has the aero package, aluminum kickplates and all the mats I feel like I got a sweet deal. His list on it was $30770. I will get some pics up in a minute if i can figure it out.

Make sure you check the 350Z sites!
Word has it those things are feathering front tires at an alarming rate. In fact my neighbor's (he's a retired college professor so not the hardest driving guy on the planet) started to go in less than 90 days so he immediately traded it in for an S2000.

nice deal. wish i could do the same, but the winters here are a little too harsh, and the z would be stranded. but great find and happy modding.

Yeah I have been on there for about a month now gettin info. The feathering issue is a matter of alignment. Rumor is, if you get the car properly aligned, it should not be much of a problem. Hope I am one of the lucky ones. I would never get an S2000. Too small, I hate convertibles and the thing has no torque. I am all about VQ.

So what kind of Z did you get? Track, Touring? Gonna get one of those in this year or so if I turn away from the X5. Or maybe the G35 Coupe.

Enthusiast. Touring was too high and track was worse. Looked at the G35c but dealers around here are unwilling to come off MSRP. Plus, I like the sportiness of the Z. The G35c is more of a sports tourer, if that makes any sense. The Z is so much fun man. Its amazing how much better this thing handles than the Maxima. Its super solid.

http://www.cardomain.com Go there and become a member. Upload your photo's to their website and then right click on the photo, open the properties of the photo. Copy and paste the web address from the properties on to your next post and put the img things around it. That's it.

welcome!

Cool! Welcome to the Z club!. I still have my Max and put it on the market to see what kinda $ I could get for it, but took it off when it snowed here (the RE040s that ship on all Zs are undrivable in the snow).

Now that there's no more snow danger, I've been feeling really divided about selling it. I put very few miles on either of my cars and living with walking distance of work so I don't really need two cars. The Max is so much quieter, has a better quality interior, has a much smoother ride (Z is really harsh), and more practical. But on the flip side, the Z is much more of an attention getter, I'm sure is more impressive to chicks and handles SOOO MUCH better. Decisions decisions...

Nice choice with the Z.

I did a similar thing a few weeks ago. Except, I bought a G35 Coupe and kept my Maxima.

The dealer offered $10,000 for my maxima (KBB value is $11,000). Not enough in my book, so I kept the Maxima as my daily driver. The G35 Coupe is an expensive daily driver and we have harsh winters here in PA.

I was looking into buying a 350Z when I sold my 91 300zx TT, but i figured no matter what I bought (Maxima or 350Z) it was going to be a big step down for me and I kind of wanted a four door since I had a two door for 7 years. But the 350Z' s are pretty nice cars...good luck!!!

I did the same not to long ago as well. I was going to go with the Z, but I needed something 4door. I went with the G35 sedan with sports pkg and navi. It was an ex-demo, but I got it for $28,900. I miss the maxima, but WOW what difference!

how did you get 17 thousand for your maxima? sell private party? The best I have been offered is thirteen thousand on trade in for a 02 6-speed with all options but nav and hlsd here in chicago. I have the itch for something a little more tossable but just can't see myself losing that much money. Man I have had the car two years and it is worth 12 grand less than i paid. arrgh. There are 2001 civics worth what my car is on trade, how depressing.

Just curious. Those of you that bought the Z or G35c, what other cars were you looking at, or did you know that the Z/G35 was what you wanted?

I was 90% sure I wanted a Z. I sorta considered the G35 coupe, but to me it doesn't look as good as the Z. It's not ugly, but not as much of a head turner. Also, there are only 2 Infiniti dealers in my state. One is close, the other is over 200 miles away. I doubt I could do much haggling cuz of that!

I thought a bit about the RX-8 but didn't like the suicide door styling and didn't want a first model year car.

Having owned a highly moded 300ZX TT, I would never step down to a 350Z. I drove 3 of them cars, I hated the engine- no ***** compared to a TTZ, even my Maxima feels stronger- I run 350Zs and take em out. I feel the interior is cheap- no auto headlights which I love, cupholder ? radio blows, trunk space is not there... reather own a GTO- my 1st non Nissan car.

Ditto that!!!! I owned a 94 TT modded(395 WHP) a 350 Z would always see my tailights. I test drove 2, and got to push my friends 350 really hard and got out and just shook my head in disgust. The 350Z is a Z that is more of a money maker to get Nissan on its feet again then it is a passionate Z car. Its very soft compared to the TT and feels very cheap inside.handels nice, but doesn't have the ***** as the 300ZXTT has.

Like an editor said from Sports Car international, "the 350Z is more of a timely car than a timeless car like the last generation 300ZX". I couldn't have said it better ..........

Saving for another TTZ as we speak, going to keep the Max but going to buy another one , this time its i am going to build it better, harder, stronger, faster!

I haven't driven a 300ZX TT or NA, but yeah, I agree w/you on the cheap interior, trunk space and radio. But the no auto headlights I don't care about about since I don't use them on the Max for fear of burning out the Xenon lights too quickly cuz of them turning on/off automatically. As for power... as I said, the Max has the illusion of feeling more powerful simply cuz it's quieter. I haven't taken the Z to the drag strip yet, but I'm confident it should be at least 0.3-0.7 seconds quicker than my 2K2 Max was.
