how to remove axle trans oil seal?
When changing the passenger side axle, I didn't replace the oil seal where the axle goes into the transmission. I'm going to have to pull it again and change it out. I tried pulling it out with my finger last time and it didn't work. How do you pull it out? and how do you put it back in?
They sell tools to do it; I used a screwdriver to pop mine out. Just be careful you don't gouge any of the metal.
As for getting it back in...now that's a pain in the as$. You'll need to go to home depot and get a piece of pipe that fits around the inner lip of the new seal...and tap it in with a hammer. It's pretty hard to get it lined up; I needed 2 seals as I screwed up the 1st one.
Good luck!
