Bad Rack & Pinion
Bad Rack & Pinion
Hi Guys! My '97 SE just got diagnosed with a leaking rack & pinion
Just to make sure the guy wasn't lying, I got a second opinion from my car dealer friends mechanic--same thing, leaking and has to be replaced. Cost is about $675 for new one including allignment, which is necessary?. The left side of the car is bathing in power steering fluid from a slow leak (Oil lever goes from max to min in about 2 weeks in the reservoir) Do you guys have any insight if that is a good price or if I have any other options.
Thanks

I guess you have to replace it. www.car-part.com
I would try to get a 99 one. They are suppose to have better steering.

Thanks a lot for the website--prices range from $100 to $300, which seems to be pretty good. The quotes I got were from $375-$450 just for the rack. As for the '99 rack & pinion being better, do you mean longer lasting? also will there be any installation issues with installing a '99 on a '97, has anyone here done it?
As always thank you very much
