Ok to take off plastic inside the doors?

Ok to take off plastic inside the doors?

Well i wanted to sound dampen my doors completely but was wondering if it is ok to take off the plastic wrapping that covers the inside. if i take it off will water get inside and mess things up?

yes, water will get inside? or yes, water will not ruin anything if i take the plastic off?

Don't remove the plastic unless you are going to use dynamat or something else in its place. Water will get in, and will eventually find its way into your switches. Not having the plastic there will also cause your car to fog up real bad, all the time.

well i plan on putting sound dampening inside the door panels

I did it this weekend -- took off the plastic, kept it somewhere safe, and then re-attached it after installing the sound deadener...everything seemed OK to me!!! (oh, and it's raining here too)

Could anyone of you tell from personal experience about this issue

I don't see how removing this could cause water to get to your controls..as there is a weather strip on the outside of the door preventing water from getting in there to begin with...and if water were to enter...it would drip to the bottom of the door...and the plastic would do nothing anyways..."laws of gravity"

again...maybe there is something I'm missing...so please post your experiences...I've removed these on my 4 cars...(1 pathfinder 3 maximas) with no issues
