Stock 3rd gen VE vs. stock 4th gen VQ

Who would win in the quarter mile? Same engine size and hp. Explain why. Because I smoked a couple of them yesterday.

4th gen most likely. 4th gen is lighter and has more torque.

i think that the gearing is different in the diff. and the power band range is very different, which makes a huge difference. the two cars are very different and there are many differences that can change quarter mile times, horse power is only one element to the equation.

Don't get me wrong I love my max, but I have owned to mustang gt's (85 and 2000) and I just don't understand racing anything other than a V8. It's funny because people spend hundreds of $ on 5-15 horsepower. It's like yeah It only cost me $500 but now I got 198 horses! I guess I just look at my car as something to be seen in, not to rip the axles out trying to impress some young punk in a 1986 honda crx with 110 horses and a red stripe on the hood. Sorry if I made anybody mad, but it's how I feel!!

i know for sure cuz i raced my moms 92 se with my 95 gle both auto...needless to say that torque its the biggest factor, getting off the line is where the vq really wins...

I know what you mean about V8s man. My pops has a 1957 chevy belair coupe with a supercharged 454 under the hood and man that kills. Still, I love my max, and even though its not made of steel or whatever, i feel a little safer driving it around town.

...Plus, the chevys an automatic and the max is stick. I dont think i can beat it yet, but id sure like to surprise my dad one of these days!
