I know this question has been answered before; but i just wanted to make sure that the noisy lifters were still a common thing on the VE engines. feel free to make fun of me; but at least post your replys!

Thats the most common thing to hear the noise from the vavle cover and if you change your oil n the oil filter and it ll reduce the sounds.

Read this fourm: Maxima.org Forums - VE30DE Oil Filter alternative. Since the 15208-60U00 has been discontinued

yeah, its the vtc's... when i got my '92 se back in january i ran into the same problem and thought it was the lifters too... u can get them rebuilt, buy a repair kit, or ground them to stop the noise (if its bad)... i've been using the toyota filter and frequently changing the oil, i will probably ground them soon and then have them rebuilt when i can afford it...

Yeah, use the toyota filter next tim eyou change oil...it always quiets my tick down for the first 2k miles after the change. Go to the local toyo shop and get filter #90915-YZZA2...it's like 4 bucks max.

I have a 91 SE auto and am looking at upgrading to to a VE car but all this talk about dying VTC's is scaring me. How much would it cost to take car of back VTCs?

If you buy it from a private seller see if they have the records of the VTC's being replaced... Mine were done under warranty...
