I installed my budget y a few weeks back & after about driving for 25 miles the SES light came on.... i cleared it a couple days later without pulling codes & it came back on after less than 50 miles of driving...

i'm pulling 3 codes.
knock sensor
O2 sensor
knock sensor

I figured the knock sensor is popping up because of the O2 sensor code...

What could be wrong? Is it possible to break the sensor? is this normal or should I get it checked out?

Yes, O2 sensor are fragile and brittle. I would change the faulty O2 sensor firt. Then do a few driving cycles. Recheck the codes. There is a good change the knock sensor code would also disappear.

 

so, how do i tell which O2 sensor went bad?

 

Oh, the 2 sensor code tells you which one is bad. Did you pull the codes with the screw-on-the-PCM-and-count-the-number-of-CEL-flashes trick?
If you have this code I can look up the description in my Haynes book tonite at home.

i actually have a friend working at autozone & he hooked it up to the computer, that's how i know the codes... i'll pull them myself (i was just too lazy since autozone does it for free)...
