Warpspeed Y-Pipe, what do you really feel?

i know the group deal for $160 is a very good deal, and i probably couldn't get it again after this. i read one post in the group deal thread from someone who has gotten it and said that he could really only feel it above 4K rpms. i like the speed and ability to go fast, but the number of times i actually go over 4K is not enough to warrant spending even $160. is this true??? do you really only feel its effects over 4K, or is it more through the entire power band? please let me know, as the deal is only on for a couple more days. thanks.

Yes, the Y-pipe shows gains in the higher RPMs. If you want gains throughout the entire powerband, get an upgraded ECU (there's a GD on that too...$200 off) or UDP (won't give as much as an ECU).

I feel more pull all the way from when I step on the gas until redline. I love it!
Get it!
It is the best money ever spend on my car to make it better.
Easy to install too.

If you get it, do yourself a favor ...

Take the car to a muffler shop, have them cut off the stock bolts and replace them with new ones. Then, go home and install your y-pipe and spray anti-seize on the bolts. This is of course, assuming you might have to swap the stock one back out to pass visual inspection like in Delaware ...

Do you have to reset the ecu after you install the y-pipe?

the ECU doesn't really need time to adjust at all. At most it only needs a couple miles, if that. The ECU never really adjusts. There's a big misconception out there that the ECU needs time to learn - no. The ECU continuously adjusts itself every time you drive, without end. So if you drive really slow it adjusts to your slowness, then when you drive fast again it adjusts to your crazyness.

Anyway, if you really don't feel **** after 70 miles then IMO something's wrong with your car. 99% of people with y-pipes notice the gains the second they set foot on the throttle.

No. Our ECUs are adaptive. 300 miles or so and they'll know what they need.

Not true. The type of "adaptation" you're referring to will yield a 1 hp difference in the long run, if you're lucky.

Experiment for yourself. Reset your ECU and test your Max with a y-pipe on a dyno. Then come back "300 miles or so" later and see what you get. Provided that the y-pipe gives 15-20 hp gain, I guarantee that you will not notice a difference of anything other than maybe 1 hp, if even that.

But you're right, don't take my word for it - what do I know, right? So go ahead and try that.

Yes, it'll be worth it. Supposedly, there's no better bang-for-your-buck mod.

i felt a difference in my car and had some runs to prove it too. my bone stock 97 max vs my friends 03 MR2 with coldair intake... he would pull 2 lengths off the line on me because his car is way lighter than mine but after we installed the Y-pipe and i even had it on for 3 days until i ran him again just to "let the ecu adjust" (even though i resetted the ecu when finished installing)... off the line he only pulled a length on me.

i felt a big difference after installing it. i got the warpspeed from the first groupdeal and i honestly cant think of a better way to spend $160!! i feel a difference all throughout the power band. it starts really pickin up at about 3K. passing gear is much more enjoyable now. its great seeing the look on some peoples faces when you hit the pedal to the metal. i say dont hesitate on this one, its definetly worth it!!!

I felt it from the day i installed it a week ago. I Think something might be wrong with your car if you dont feel anything. ITS WORTH IT. there is no other mod out there that you can get for that price.

Why would it not be any more worth it because you are a Cali spec?
It just means that they have different specs, not that they will not gain from a y-pipe.

If you don't think a $160 Y is worth it, you might was well keep the whole engine stock and not touch it. IMHO

Id heard that a Y-pipe for a cali spec wasnt worth it because of the emissions crap on it. But $160 is too good of a deal to pass up.

It's my understanding that you should pass smog with no problem as long as you let your car warm up before the smog test? I would just get the Y-pipe that eliminates the 2 pre cats (non cali)...

One question I have about these group deals. From what I've read in posts from other org. members it seem that sometimes it takes along time to receive the parts. Is it really worth saving $30 or $40 bucks when you have to wait such a long time to get the part? I'm not sure, I haven't done any group deals, but from what I've read on here alot of people have said sometimes it takes months to get there parts? Is this true?

eh...after executing such precise control over myself the first time the GD was offered...meaning I didn't buy it...even tho I really wanted to....I finally caved in this time.

Just submitted my info for it....since it looks like this 2nd deal is good till the 10th. Let's see what happens. It's weird...I don't think twice about spending $160 on a new hard drive or processor...or something like that...but when it comes to something a lil 'extra' for my car....I get all **** over it. haha. Guess I'm used to keeping my vehicles stock.

I know what ya mean man... I have a computer that is modded to death (looks damn sweet I must add!) but I try not to spend waaaay to much on the car. With these great deals, its really hard to pass up
