Easiest first test: when was your car made and what is the VIN? check that out and compare with the TSB since it is a 2k1

Yup... if you feel a soft and slow shift under heavy throttle.. get in line for repairs.

It shouldnt be to hard. Just step on the all of the way and it go's.... VRRRRRRRRRR<ACCELERATING TOWARDS 6200 RPMS>RRRRRRRRRR<5500>RRRRRRRR<6000>RRR<6100>RRRR<6 200>RUMMM..... And it hangs at the "RUMM" part for a 1.5 second period. Good enough?

You or anyone else wouldn't happen to have a WAV file of this. Also when it slips dose the car stop pulling and just kinda make the sound of of reving up?? Because I took mine to the dealer and they said mine was fine but I know my car and it dose slip I think.

you will feel like it is put into neutral between shifts, so it wil rev but it wont shift and you left reving but no power touching the groudn, then it will eventually catch , the worse the slipping the longer the duration, that was ONE of my expirences

Dealer told me that when the transmission is cold, a short delay between first and second is normal. Said the delay occurs to protect the transmission when the tranny fluid is not heated to normal driving temperature. The short of it is the dealer reached the conclusion that my car operates within specs, and no tcm upgrade was necessary. I guess I'll monitor the problem, and when it gets worse, I'll take the car to a different dealer. Nissan service suks. At least the tcm upgrade should be covered under the 5 year extended warranty.

Is it supposed to be a delay or a thud. I have a delay and a thud when second engages, but only when cold(<10 miles). The thud isn't too bad, just like someone bumped into the back of your car at about 1 mph.

Good thing I read this thread....

Through reading this discussion I was able to determine that I too have the same problem my 2K SE Max. I just thought this was something normal with my automatic Max. I have never had an automatic car before, so I figured that was a delay inherent to the auto tranny. I should have known that is not normal based on the delay in shifting from1st to 2nd.

Anyway, called in my car for service at the local Nissan dealer and they scheduled me in in two days!

For those of you not sure if it's happenning with your car, it is rather easy to tell: gas it off the line, if it hessitates (revs without shifting) from 1st to 2nd for about a second - you've got a problem.

We'll see what the dealership tells me and what they do about it...

Re: Good thing I read this thread....

Dealer replaced the speed sensor which is the culpret. It's better but not the best. It's my first Automatic and I just close my eyes as the tach reaches 6.5k and shifts.... barely.

Ask Sky Max JR for his JWT popcharger WAV. There is AT slippage there.
