Bose CD Player won't Play

Hi guys,

I just bought a 99 SE-L off eBay -- a story in itself -- and it arrived with the Bose stereo working fine EXCEPT for the CD player. The seller claims it was working prior to delivery (I bought this sight unseen and had it trucked to me). When I insert a CD - any CD - the display says "CD", the "CD In" indicator comes on, but no sound. I can't hear anything spinning up, either. If I press the PROG button (for repeat), the "1" and "RANDOM" indicators cycle normally. The eject button ejects the CD; or it self-ejects after a while and the display says "ERR". No other buttons have any effect.

Has the CD player simply died, or is there anything else to be checked, like a fuse?

Assuming it has died...

Can the CD player section be replaced separately? What's a source for a replacement (presumably a source such as the repair shops use)?

The car does not have a changer, although it was an option, I gather ("CD/Chg" button). If I get a changer and install it, should I expect it to work even with the single play player not working?

Did the changer option install in the dash below the Bose, where the tray is, or in the trunk?

Thanks.
