just intalled my y pipe on 2000 5spd...wow!!!

this mourning i changed my coils and spark plugs, doue to a cylider one missfire, and it was time anyway, was easier job then i thought. anyway then i thought id try to put in my budget y pipe, took a look and didnt wanna lay under the car and mess with it the whole day. went to a good muffler shop and after a few minor problems and delays they got it in.

and man do i feel the difference, after 3000 rpm it really kiks, and pull much better the rest of the power band. sounds great too not too lound or too quiet! cost me 100 to put it in but i guess it was worth it, considering the pipe was only 190. seems like its the best mod for the money!

i put my berk intake in 2 weeks before. so how much power gains should i expect form the intake and the y pipe? im thinkin like 20 at the wheels is that about right?

I just got the max back last night. Now I'm fully kitted and I had them put in the Y-pipe and R/t Cat I have the exact same impressions!

With headers, will the car pass emissions?

exactly the same thing on my side!

Just install my budget y-pipe yeaterday and it pull really better than before!
I've got a dyno test day 15th of mai so I'll post dyno of after (with INJEN CAI, and maybe UR lightweight pulley(if I received it in times))

100$ seem right to me!
Take me about 3hr to put it in! and an hour more with my CE STS (bolt always break or strip on while working on exhaust, so you got to drill )

ye i still have my stock catback, id really like to get the cattman one, looks awsome, but 350 is a bit much for a muffler and a short pipe.

what bothered me was when i looked at my whole exhaust there was a part that was kinda bent to be squashed, and looks kinda restrictive, its after the secont cat and just before it turns to go around the fuel tank. i wanna get that part cut out n mabe replaced, but for now im real happy w/wat i got. ill probibly never get the headers but maybe catback...when i find a bag of money!

you should pass emissions with headers. As long as the main cat is working and fully warmed up it should pass with no problem. Get some 02 sensor eliminators for the CEL light if U don't extend your wires for the 02 sensors behind the main cat.

call budget at 905 681 4579 its in canada. they have a stainless steel for 260 canadian so its like 180 or 190 USD shipped, and they told me they have a new aluminized pipe, which only comes out to be like 150 USD, but i would pay a bit extra for the stainless one. the quality seems pretty good, catman is probibly a bit better quality but not by 150 dollars. i had a bassani a exhaust in my mustang and that was the best quality exhaust ive ever seen, budget is a good prouduct and great value, i guess ill see how it holds up over time.

Well, I splurged on the Cattman Y-pipe ($350) because Brian Catts was VERY helpful and provided me with some valuable data in helping me make my determination.

That said, I'm scheduled to receive my Y-pipe on May 4th and....I'M PUMPED!!!!!

Some people just buy a new b-pipe to replace that section while others just leave it alone. Tommorow I am goingto cut that part off along with the resonator and just put in a straight pipe with no restrictions.

I've installed a budget Ypipe on a 00 Max with a highflow cat on a stock exhaust and when 1st started up it had a nice rumble to it- cold. After warming it up it sounded maybe a hair louder than stock. I run a custom 2.5" Magnaflow exhaust with Cattman Ypipe- modified due to constant flexpipe cracking, no front middle or rear cat ( cali spec ) and my exhaust growls nicely. It has a sound of a Supra TT under load. It doesn't really drown and the gains where there. I'm currently in the process of sourcing myself some HS headers and Greddy SP2 exhaust. My cattman Ypipe has no flex section in it so whole exhaust tends to vibrate and has no ability to move. My exhaust cracks on weekly basis and I gotta weld it back up due to this funked up Y-pipe. I should take a picture of my exhaust today when I got my car on the lift - its pretty funny how many weld jobs and coke cans I got on it to keep it from leaking.

U missunderstood my post, My flexpipes where cracking all the time. So I welded on a piece of pipe the same diameter as the rest of the Ypipe instead of the flex pipe. Not only is the flex pipe semi restrictive but its a POS that will crack on ya. I had Brian Cats warranty one of mine and then I threw out my stock Ypipe and when the warrantied Cattman Ypipe broke again I had nothing to put back on the car in order to get Cattman to fix it again. So I just deal with it, remove the pipes every 2 weeks to weld em till I can swing some HS headers and Greddy SP2 all at once. I reather do both at the same time than just faq around with headers and then the exhaust- reather install both at once with a brand new test pipe and all new hangers.

well its been a few days n i just wanna drive n drive the car, its great! but thet squashed section is really getting to me so i started looking at catbacks but cant afford to blow 450 in an exhaust. so maybe just a mid pipe (b pipe)? but that like 250 also. anyone know a good place to get a good midpipe? and just how restrictive is that stock peice anyway? im just being **** about it, its just frekin bothering me cause it looks so stupid there. maybe i should just get that peice cut out and a short pipe welded in???? man im too obsesed with my car...anyone ever get that feeling?

The main portion you'll gain from in a catback is the B-pipe. The muffler is worth IMHO jack crap in N/A applications since the factory muffler is already flowing at a good rate. You can get one custom made at a local muffler shop for cheaper with or without a resonator. I'd suggest without a resonator if you want extra noise+no drone. A B-pipe is good for 3-5 fwhp? ( or was it bhp?) The biggest restriction in the B-pipe is the U-bend right after the main cat. Any B-pipe within 2.25"-2.5" will work in a similar fashion.
