I finally dynoed the new setup today =)

I got some time to do some tuning but there is still room to squeeze out more.

Runs:

1. 233.3hp 230.0 tq
The AF wasn't very good on this pass. I had the SAFC-II too rich up top.

2. 240.7hp 230.3 tq
I adjusted the A/F some

3. 240.0hp 234.2 tq
I adjusted some more

4. 240.1hp 232.5tq
And more, it appears the car is heat soaking

5. I try a 6th gear top speed pass and confirm that I have a speed limiter. The car hits 151.5mph on the dyno. That's beatup, some of you guys are going to 157mph in 5th on the dyno with no speed limiter.

I let the car cool off and do some more adjusting...

6. 249.4hp 241.6tq

I am certain I can push it to 255whp with some adjusting at 6k to make it 13.5:1 instead of 13.0:1 A/F.

I will add scans and run files later tonight.

In the meantime, can someone provide me with some VQ30DE-K dyno run files? I think it will be an interesting comparison.

APexi SAFC-II

UR UDP

Ported stock airbox

17º base timing (14 is stock, 15 is stock spec)

Hot Plugs (+1)

Hollow OE Cat.

HKS rear section (axle back)

Bypassed TB coolant hose

93 octane pump gas

Stock B pipe

Fresh Amsoil 5w-30 motor earl.

VQ30DE earl filter

North Carolina air

Dave Brown Motorsports dynojet 248C

Thats all I can think of right now.

Actually the peak would be at 6200 (over 250whp)if it was tuned to 13.5 there.

SAFC? The stock ecu can't handle the breathing mods? Damn nice numbers 249hp at the wheels is rocking!

I don't think it can. Lots of 350z are running lean from just adding a pop charger or headers. Some are getting into 14:1:1

It handles them fine but from what I've seen the VQ35's still run quite rich even with all the bolts ons. With all my mods from 5k-6600 Im runnin 12:0 a/f.

Im curious to try out the IM at the track, I might have to get the ECU again to take advantage of the raised rev limiter where as before it wasn't too useful

You had your chance and you pu$$ed out. You shoulda listened to me before and tried it when you had the ECU that day at the track.

Mine ins't leaning out, it's acutally on the rich side for some reason. I had to take out over X% (6-10??) at 6400 to get it to 13.5 .

One thing that I havent mentioned is that I dynoed without my air filter. The reason I took it out is because I noticed it was VERY filthy and was probably killing power. On my drive home I immediately noticed that my SAFC-II was reporting over 73% MAF wheras before it would max out at 66%. Therefore I just dynoed more power than I had at the track when I was trapping 106mph.

Look for more than 106mph on street tires the next time I go to the track. The butt dyno definately feels the redline gains from my tuning session and Im usually reluctant to talk about the butt dyno.

sr20den: are you planning to go for the TS ecu for the raised rev limiter and then adjust with the S-AFC?

Yes I need to rev to 7200+ now and get rid of my pesky 149mph speed limiter.

Wow, I almost missed this thread. Very nice. I noticed you don't have the big dip in power at around 3800 rpms. Is that from the new IM setup or because of the SAFC tuning?

Blu, you should have tried out the IM. I'd love to hear how it works for us auto guys.

It could be the VTC's or it could be due to the intake. In blu's other thread he mentions he is not completely done with it.

I am not completely familiar with VQ35 dynos, I just haven't spent much time studying them

I am running the same mods as he with cams and minus the modifed intake manifold. I could only reach 241.4fwhp and a very low 218.1 tq. I dunno if the cams are worth it for the price and only a 12 hp gain.

Those are very nice numbers SR, I'd love to get my numbers to truly reflect the mods im running. I wish I could read minds to find out what you have done with your intake manifold...

What cams do you have? You're the first 2k2 we know of that has cams and is running.
