New HO alternator leading to MAJOR problem

Alright so i recently aquired a 220 amp HO alternator by Dominick Irragi. When i got the alt i noticed the only difference from the stock alt, was the pulley. the pulley on the new alt is just a little bit smaller in diameter than the old one. well i go about putting everything in and it all goes perfectly fine. the old serpentine belt i had was a little too big so i went and got one that was 1/2" smaller. i fit it in and it fit perfectly. now i go to start my car and all i get is the HORRIBLE screaming noise. so i look down at the tensioner and go ahead and try to adjust it, i turned the car on again and still the noise. so i took a sharpie and drew a small mark on the tensioner pulley. i start the car for a second and turn it off. i look to see if the pulley had rotated...and it hadnt at all. so ive been trying to loosen up the tensioner, but i think that my tensioner is broken because the pulley isnt moving at all. does anyone know what i can do to get that tensioner pulley to start spinning? im desperate, i havent had my car working in 7 weeks and i am SO close to having it working and this is the only thing that stands in my way. ANY help would be appreciated.

dude, have you tried adjusting the idler pulley itself? I'm not absolutely sure that it will work but I was working on that stuff today- just trying to adjust the belets. The tensioner up top was not doing anything for me so I went under, took off the splash shield, and loosened the pulley bolt itself. I made sure the that the belt was snug then tightened the pulley bolt. Mine was making the same screeching noise (it seems that if its making that noise, the belts aren't tight enough) before and after this it was gone. Just my .02.

Sorry, I know that this is a really, really, really old thread,

But was a cause/solution found to the problem??

Also, sorry if I've overlooked it in another thread, I've been lax in my reading due to numerous things.

That's not even CLOSE to a record, but it's still mighty impressive for a first post.

A few days ago a guy bumped a "just got my 95 GLE. Where to start with mods" thread from January of 2000, to say something like "y-pipe and intake." . But it looks like the thread was deleted, and he was .
