99 SEL; Bose is done - QQ'n 4 help w/options...

My bose unit won't play CD's most of the time (the dreaded "ERR") - I was looking into getting something with a CD and cassette on it. Didn't want to spend more than $300 on the head unit. Any suggestions? Also, if the new deck is not "double-din" sized, does it matter? Any input would be helpful. Thanks much.

it has to be double din, or din sized. if its din sized, you will need a pocket to install under the unit. i would suggest maybe a pioneer i believe the model is 4400 its an older model but its relatively cheap, like $250? let me see if i can find it this one and

that 2nd one looks pretty neat...

I got an SE-L also...here's what I bought a year ago:

it's now discontinued, but it's performed very nicely since i put it in; front folds down to access the CD & cassette slots. it also takes up to 3 external sources, like CD/MP3 changers:

just fyi....good luck finding something nice.

I like the look of the 2nd one also.

Your setup looks pretty kool. What brand is it, and how much did it cost (if you don't mind me asking)? Looks like it's over $300 ......

it's all Kenwood gear...the HU alone was $600+; you know i did the "6 months same as cash" deal on that one. the two changers (plus a control box not pictured) ran about $650. then there are the replacement speakers & amp....
