naybody that knows anything about clutches......

I have about 600 miles on my ACT Stage 1 and Fidanza flywheel. Whenever I shift into a different gear, the car shudders a little and then keeps going. every gear, i can feel it a lot on harder shifts, but can also feel it on easy shifts.

what is my problem here?

Is this something that is common with lightened flywheels and/or aftermarket clutches?

Do I need new motor mounts?

I dont know, thats why I am asking here.

maybe you have high spots on your flywheel? I had this once when I got my clutch/flywheel/the whole shebang replaced on my truck. it went away after a couple of hundred miles though.

high spots are when the surface on the flywheel isn't totally flat, and doesn't grab or mate to the other flat surface, hence the severe vibrations on the tranny translated into shudders on the car. if it doesnt go away after a thouasnd miles, maybe ask for a resurface?

This could be embarrassing, but when I got the brand new fidanza flywheel, should I have gotten it resurfaced then, or is it good to go new.

I really want to know what it is for sure before i pay to drop the tranny again

A brand new Fidanza does not need to be resurfaced.

My Exedy engages as smooth as a stock clutch does, another ACT I installed has some chatter in reverse but all of the forward gears are smooth, I cant quite figure that one out, lol.

'bout the only difference (from the clutch's perspective) between reverse and all other gears is that reverse is geared the lowest... geared lower than 1st gear I believe.

OK, so Im gonna wait around 1000 miles to see if the shudder goes away, I pray it does. Please chime in if your new clutch ever shuddered when you shifted and it eventually went away. It would reassure me a lot.

If not i guess ill have to get the tranny popped open again to check it out.
