low idle and ticking noise

HELP!! the ECU is giving me 0505 which means nothing is wrong, but my car is idling at very low rpm??

also, when the key is truned to ON without the engine running. i could hear a ticking noise under the hood. it ticks at a very steady speed, sounds like a clock ticking inside the engine.

Does anyone know what's wrong with my 96 se and how to fix the problems??

Thank you in advance.

Ticking?

Usually sticky valves.

Most user higher quality gas and higher quality oil and seems to solve the issue.

As for the Idel, Id suggest resetting the ECU.

The ticking your hearing is the Idle Air Control Valve. It's normal to hear that device tick even if your engine isn't running.

Clean your throttle body, goto www.motorvate.ca for instructions or just search around for instructions here in the forums. If that doesn't fix your low idle, adjust it. I believe instructions for that are also on motorvate.

Also, try running 1/2 can of Seafoam through your brake booster. Should smooth out your idle.
